Eisbär Eis, a specialist in manufacturing private-label ice-cream products, commissioned Kardex Mlog to construct a third automated high-bay warehouse and implement a conveyor connection between the warehouse and its new production plant in Apensen, Germany. The project also requires Kardex Mlog to refurbish existing sections of the conveying technology and completely update the visualization software. The order is the continuation of a long-term partnership. Providing a total of 12,500 pallet storage spaces, both existing frozen-food high-bay warehouses in Apensen, were constructed by Kardex Mlog in 2009 and 2011. With this new investment, Eisbär Eis is preparing for future growth. The work is to begin this fall and much of it is to be carried out during ongoing operations. The new sections are scheduled to become operational by May 2023.
Eisbär Eis will integrate the new two-aisle high-bay warehouse into the existing overall logistics concept and use it to store raw materials, consumables and supplies. Two stacker cranes of type Kardex MSingle B-1250/31 ZT enable 56 storage and retrieval operations per hour. The 32-meter-high warehouse has two temperature zones, over 12 racking levels and 4,700 pallet storage spaces with double-deep storage. Kardex Mlog will also plan and install conveyor routes to supply various production areas.
The high-bay warehouse and the extensive conveying technology with 140 drives, 3 vertical conveyors and a transfer carriage have been designed by Kardex Mlog in close collaboration with Professor Dr. Günter Truszkiewitz from Planungsbüro ProLoCon, which was responsible for the tendering process.
Eisbär Eis is an owner-operated family company with a history dating back to 1955. The specialist in the manufacture of retail brands has its own development department and offers an extensive product portfolio, which covers almost the entire requirements of the company’s retail partners.
